General Responsibilities

 
  • The administration and project officer will contribute to the successful operation of the Fundraising Support Team (within the Office of the Executive Director) and will undertake multiple tasks within the unit.
  • The Fundraising Support Team oversees the preparation of tenders and funding proposals within the REC and is responsible for the related administrative coordination. The position of administration and project officer is essential for successful fundraising. All assignments are carried out in accordance with the highest standards.

 

Specific responsibilities:

 
  • Regularly screening websites and funding sources (mostly European public institutions and European financial programmes) on the basis of predefined criteria, and informing staff about opportunities by providing monthly screening reports to project managers/experts.
  • Liaising with the project staff responsible for the preparation of applications and, where necessary, providing additional information about templates, procedures and eligibility.
  • Assisting in the preparation of proposals and tenders by providing formats for applications and application requirements.
  • Keeping track of submitted proposals and donor correspondence; tracking and archiving REC project reports and REC project references; and developing and maintaining the respective tracking sheets/databases.
  • Preparing cumulative reports on the competitive fundraising activities of REC topic areas twice a year.
  • Developing reports on topic area turnover from projects awarded/contracted as a result of REC’s competitive fundraising.
  • Processing donor contracts according to the organisation’s procedures.
  • Providing daily technical support to the development coordinator.

 

Work experience, knowledge and skill level required:

 
  • A minimum of three years’ relevant work experience.
  • Experience of project development and management.
  • Fluency in English and at least one additional language from the REC’s beneficiary region.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated technical/administrative expertise.
  • General computer skills, including knowledge of spreadsheet applications and database maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and be a team player.
  • Ability to work in a flexible manner on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently.

 

Education Required

 
  • University or college degree related to the environment and/or communication.

This position is based at the REC’s head office in Szentendre, Hungary (20 km north of the Hungarian capital, Budapest). The position is for a fixed period of one year, with a possibility of extension.
